After spending 15 months working as a telesales executive, with countless false promises and a severe lack of appreciation, I took the leap and decided to join Perfect People in the world of recruitment.
I saw Perfect People as a great place to learn and develop into a recruitment consultant straight away. I felt they were a tight-knit group with people similar to myself, who were clearly successful.
From day one I underwent a training course that helped me learn the basics of resourcing. Because I already had experience in telesales, I jumped straight on the phone and started having conversations with candidates. Although I was chucked in the deep end, I was supported all the way; each call I learned more, with the guys offering insight and tips on how to handle every aspect of the calls.
Since my start in June 2018, I have progressed leaps and bounds, both at work and personally. I am much more confident and have lots of credible conversations with both senior candidates and clients. This improvement has also come with financial reward, having billed 30k so far, with more on the horizon it only pushes me further.
It’s no stroll in the park though, life in recruitment is like a rollercoaster, full of ups and downs. The key is to accept this, know that not every day is going to be easy, and there are times you feel like nothing is going your way.
Making a placement makes this worth it, it’s a great feeling knowing you’ve beaten the competition and will be rewarded for it. The amount of money you can make in recruitment is incredible; when I am having a bad day or week, I just think “if it was easy, everyone would be doing it” – very clichéd, but so true.
Moving forward, I can’t wait to progress further, make more placements, win more clients and ultimately, make more money for both myself and my team.
