VMware Virtual Desktop Support Engineer

VMware VDI support and project engineer required by a rapidly growing global VAR and Managed Service Provider who are hugely successful in providing client led solutions and backed up by holding tier 1 status with many of the major vendors. An exceptional level of customer support, proactively informing clients of issues, answering questions and providing ownership for resolving all incidents and problems ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed appropriately.  The role will be split 80% customer 2nd/3rd line support and 20% project engineering. The role will off a blend of office/client site and home based working.
VMware virtual desktop support engineer

Required Experience:

  • VMWare Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • VMware Desktop deployment (VMware View/Horizon 4.1, 5.3 & 6.0 and 7.0 Thin Apps)
  • Horizon View implementation & support of VMware Horizon 6.2.1 infrastructure
  • VMware Esxi 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 5.5, 6 & 6.5 Server with VCenter Appliance, VSphere

Nice to have:

  • VCP certified
  • NetApp or Dell SAN storage supportNetApp OR Dell Storage Support experience

Salary £45,000 to £55,000 base plus 10% bonus

Ideally based from Milton Keynes, possibly London with travel to client sites and home working as possible - 4 days per week support, 1 day project engineering.

  • Excellent Communication Skills coupled with an appetite for developing their knowledge. 
  • A helpful manner and approach coupled with the ability to deliver whilst also having
  • The ability to learn things quickly and have a sharp eye for detail.
  • Experience and understanding of IT incident management 
  • Experience and understanding of IT change management 
  • Highly motivated and flexible  
  • Good time management, organizational skills with the ability to multitask  
  • Ability to work independently and to take the lead where required but also to work as part of a team.
